“Don’t mess with me…”

The highlight of Day 2 was a visit to a kibbutz near Israel’s border with Lebanon. There, a settler by the name of Aray Benya Kov spoke with us from a ledge overlooking the border.

“This is the home of Hezbollah,” said Kov, gesturing to Lebanon. “This is where they live, this is where they train, this is where they fight and hopefully die.”

An IDF veteran of five wars, Kov had an interesting, radically pro-Israel perspective.

“This is our people and our land and our home and our time,” he said, “And we’re here.”

“It’s totally illogical, but after 4,000 years, we’re still here. These creeps aren’t gonna get rid of us.”

His solution to the problem that Lebanese and Israelis both lay claim to the land?

“If they come near me, I’ll kill them. That’s it.”
